Description of the attraction

The brick single-nave Holy Trinity Church is located in the center of Kielce on John Paul II Street between the Stefan eromski Museum and the building of the Higher Theological Seminary. The church is a significant city attraction, therefore, it is included in the red tourist route, named after the color of the line that is laid on the asphalt and covers all the main tourist attractions of the city. That is, any traveler, in order to inspect the most interesting historical buildings of the city, may not even acquire a map, but simply follow the red trail.

Earlier on the site of this church there was a small chapel, built in 1602 at the hospital of the Holy Trinity, where the old miners from Kielce were kept. The temple was flanked by two buildings, one of which lived a local priest and houses for men, and the second was a shelter for women. All hospital patients gathered for services in one church.

The modern Church of the Holy Trinity was built thanks to the efforts of the local canon, Father Maciej Oblomkovich. The new church was erected in 1646. The hospital buildings next to it have not survived; instead, a seminary and a gymnasium were erected. Since 1727 the church was run by a theological seminary. After some time, the building of the temple became the property of a neighboring school.

In 1725, the bishop of Krakow, Constantin Felitsian Shanyavsky, allocated money to the Church of the Holy Trinity for the purchase of the main and side altars, church furniture and the pulpit. At the same time, the church was embroidered, adding a sacristy to it. In the second half of the 18th century, a choir was built in the temple. In 1889, it was decorated with a turret designed by Francis Xavier Kowalski. A few years later, an organ made in the workshops of S. Blomberg was installed here. The church has been renovated several times and is now maintained in excellent condition.
