Description of the attraction
The square of A. S. Pushkin, in which there is also a monument to the great Russian poet, was opened in 1988. It is assumed that in Nikolaev A. S. Pushkin visited during his numerous wanderings in the Kherson province. The park is located at the intersection of Naberezhnaya and Pushkin streets.
The sculpture of the twenty-five-year-old A. S. Pushkin, cast in bronze and installed on a granite pedestal, was created by the Honored Artist of Ukraine Y. Makushin.
In 2011, for the next cultural holiday - the poet's birthday - an aesthetic reconstruction of the square was carried out. Nikolaev schoolchildren and pupils of art circles of the city took part in the action. They transformed the appearance of Pushkin Square: they washed the concrete fence panels around the sculpture of Pushkin, and based on their own sketches they made many illustrations-drawings about life and from the works of the famous Russian poet. By the efforts of young artists, a kind of exposition was created, with an area of over 150 sq. M.
From the high bank, which ends with A. S. Pushkin Square on Naberezhnaya Street, a delightful panorama of the Southern Bug and wide Ingul opens. The square has become a favorite place of rest for nikolayevets and guests of the city and a wonderful corner of the city landscape.
