This kind of art gallery like the gallery of E. M. Lunin does not even exist in the Russian capital. Here paintings, sculptures, graphics are presented not for sale, but for free public viewing - for this reason, an art gallery brings only expenses to its owner.
It may seem strange and completely out of date that it is possible to run a gallery that does not generate any income. Evgeny Mikhailovich Lunin - an entrepreneur from the city of Chelyabinsk; by profession he is an economist and mechanical engineer. The opening of an art gallery became an important decision for an entrepreneur, because with its help it will be possible to support many artists, show their work to the public, and also simply help them survive.
The history of the art gallery began in 1996 in a completely random way, when Evgeny Mikhailovich made an order for a young graphic artist from the city of Cherepovets, Yuri Volkov, which consisted of several fairly voluminous compositions. Soon Lunin met other young artists, learned about their life, families, work; But, as it turned out, the most acute problem of almost all artists was the lack of demand in the field of art, which is more true of the Russian provinces, where the work of even especially gifted artists is almost impossible to sell. It is known that about thirty members of the Russian Union of Artists, living in the city of Cherepovets, became hostages of lack of livelihood.
It was the purchase of artwork that Evgeny Mikhailovich began to deal with. Collection of Lunin E. M. mostly devoted to the art of masters from Vologda, guided by the traditions of realism. At the moment, the gallery has more than three thousand works of graphics, painting, sculpture.
The art gallery was opened in 2001. The nature of the gallery acquisition is built according to the monographic principle, which fully corresponds to the approach from the point of view of science. Sections of such artists as V. Vetrogonsky, V. Pimenov, O. Borozdin, V. Sergeev, A. Savin and some others are highlighted here.
A distinctive feature of the museum has become the activity with the creative heritage, as well as the archives of the departed masters of graphics and painting: M. Larichev, S. Khrustaleva, N. Grishachev.. the art gallery contains collections of works by those masters who have recently declared themselves, and works, which are still very few people: Karpacheva O., Novgorodov A., Konstantinov V.
The most valuable painting in the gallery is “Portrait of V. I. Belov”is the most important work in the iconography of the great poet of the Vologda region. A strong emotional impact on numerous viewers at the Third All-Russian Exhibition in 2006, dedicated to landscape painting, was made by the "Image of the Motherland". One of the key positions was given to the monumental landscape of V. Strakhov "Ice drift in Totma".
All collectible paintings and items of Lunin are divided into two main sections: graphics and painting. In the graphics department, in addition to printed graphics, there is also original graphics. Here you can also see preparatory drawings for wood engravings by leading Vologda masters: V. Sergeeva, A. Nagovitsyna, G. Burmaginova.
It should be noted that the activity of the art gallery is not at all limited only to the acquisition of graphic works and paintings. Evgeny Mikhailovich communicates with masters of the most modern art, and also conducts annual visits of artists to the most beautiful places of our homeland, which actively increases their artistic potential. Since the very inception of the Lunin Picture Gallery, one of the most important areas of activity has been the creation of films and books about your favorite artists. This thought came due to the fact that few of the real fans of the work of artists know all the truth about their favorite artist, because some of it happens that art critics literally impose their opinions on readers in their articles.
The art gallery has already held about a hundred exhibitions, and this number will grow, because the Vologda land has always been famous for its skillful artists and kind people.
