Description of the attraction
The Taj Mahal Palace (Taj Mahal Palace) is a luxurious hotel located in the city of Mumbai right on the shores of the Arabian Sea, in the Apollo Bander area. It was founded by the Indian metallurgical magnate Jamseji Nusservanji Tata. Construction began in 1898 and continued until 1903. Tata envisioned the hotel as the pearl of Bombay - lush, rich and unique. Furniture and interior items were specially ordered in Europe by Jamseji Nusservanji personally, and the graceful columns for the central hall were designed by Gustave Eiffel himself.
The huge building Taj Mahal Palace was built in European style and has 7 floors. In the central part of the hotel there is a superstructure crowned with a large dome with a turret. In the courtyard of the building there is a large swimming pool with a terrace.
The best restaurants of the city are located on the territory of the hotel. And from the windows of 500 rooms, including 44 suites, breathtakingly beautiful views of the Arabian Sea and the famous Gateway to India, which are located nearby, open. The interior of each room is unique and luxurious. The halls are decorated with handmade carpets, expensive paintings and semi-precious stones.
The Taj Mahal Palace is a very popular place among politicians, athletes, businessmen, and show business stars. At different times such celebrities as Mick Jagger, John Lennon with Yoko Ono, Bernard Shaw and many others have stayed in this place. The hotel is also famous for the fact that in 1947 the independence of India was proclaimed in it.
Later, the territory of the Taj Mahal Palace began to get upset - a high tower was erected nearby, which is part of the hotel. And over time, a whole network of hotels "Taj Mahal" appeared, which are located not only in India, but throughout the world.
