Description of the attraction

The Biological Museum of Lucerne is an amazing place where you can literally touch the natural history. The history of the museum dates back to the 18th century Kunstkamera, and even then its collection was quite interesting. Now the exposition presents the remains of ancient animals and mannequins of our distant ancestors, and even the "Dragonstone", the origin of which is told by the legend: it is nothing more than the frozen fiery saliva of a dragon living on Mount Pilatus.

Forget everything you knew about dusty and boring paleontological museums. Here in Lucerne, the history of the ancient world is a real trip to Jurassic Park, where dinosaurs and other giant reptiles await visitors. Another permanent exhibition - "Biology" - tells about the Swiss flora and fauna, and here you can see many living representatives of the latter - in terrariums and aquariums. And for lovers of something airy - the exhibition "The Amazing World of Insects."

If you are traveling with children, then the Biological Museum should be given at least a couple of hours - this is hardly enough to go around all the halls, touch all the exhibits and see at least a few documents about the origin of life on earth, filmed like a fascinating TV movie.

The museum is located on the Kazernenplatz square. It is easy to reach it from the station along the Reuss embankments (south bank), a walk will take 10 minutes. Landmark - the Spreuerbrücke bridge (the second covered wooden bridge from the lake). The Biological Museum is adjacent to the white building of the Historical Museum, which is easily recognizable by the fresco on the façade.
