Description of the attraction

The territory of the National Natural Park "Podolskie Tovtry" is spread within the boundaries of several districts: Gorodoksky, Chemerovetsky and Kamenets-Podolsky. Its area is 261316.0 hectares, which is 12.5% of the entire territory of the Khmelnytsky region. It is the largest natural park in Europe. Received national status in 1996.

Functional zoning divided the park area into a protected area, a regulated recreation area, a stationary recreation area and an economic area. The natural park includes more than one hundred and thirty territories and objects belonging to the nature reserve fund. Among them, 23 have a national status: 8 landscape reserves and 7 botanical, geological natural monuments (including "Kitaygorodskoe outcrop), a cave of gypsum origin" Atlantis (length - 1, 8 km), a botanical garden and three parks, which are monuments of garden park art.

The purpose of the national natural park is the preservation, restoration and rational use of Podolsk natural landscapes with typical and rare natural systems and historical and cultural complexes. Tovtrams are called the rocky arched ridge of Western Podillia. There are no analogues of Tovtrams in the world, although there are rocky ridges similar to them in separate geological structures in the USA and Great Britain. In general, the surface of Tovtr does not have Quaternary deposits, as a result of which its irregularities are clearly distinguished in the relief in the form of rocky and karst forms that have a picturesque appearance.

The territory of the park is characterized by a combination of inimitable natural riches of nature and historical and cultural heritage. This creates conditions for the formation of health and educational tourism.
