Description of the attraction
The town hall square of Nesvizh is the central square of the city, on which the building of the town hall stands. The first mention of Nesvizh dates back to the 13th century. Judging by the year Nesvizh received the Magdeburg Law, we can conclude that Nesvizh was a prosperous large city with well-developed crafts. The construction of the Town Hall on the main Market Square of the city began in 1586, immediately after Nesvizh received the Magdeburg Law. After the town hall was built, the square was renamed into the Town Hall. Now there is a museum in the Nesvizh Town Hall.
On the Town Hall Square, there are preserved old trading rows, which surround the Town Hall on three sides. The shopping arcade is a single complex of shops and shops under a single roof - a medieval prototype of a shopping complex. Usually, shopping malls were built closer to the town hall in order to constantly be under the vigilant protection of law and order. In 2008, a fire broke out in the shopping arcade, but now they have already been fully restored.
The House of the Craftsman has been preserved on the Town Hall Square - a typical building, of which there were many on the Town Hall Square. Well-to-do artisans and merchants lived in such houses. Houses combined living quarters and workshops or trade offices, shops. So it was closer to work, and easier to protect.
Now the central Town Hall Square of Nesvizh, as in ancient times, is the heart of the city. All significant events take place here: holidays, fairs, festivals, city festivities, sports competitions. On New Year's Eve, the largest New Year tree in the city is installed here.
