Description of the attraction

Pryvoz is one of the oldest and largest markets in Ukraine. This is not just a place where you can buy a variety of products, fruits and vegetables, this is a place where you will fully experience the flavor of the old Ukrainian city of Odessa, where you will hear the original dialect inherent only in this city and will be able to plunge into the atmosphere of a real market.

Today Privoz is a historical landmark of Odessa. Its construction began in 1827, when, according to the city's development plan, a large market was opened on Privoznaya Square. Initially, this market was part of another - the Old Market. Its name - Privoz, the market got due to the fact that it usually traded imported goods, which were brought in by carts, wagons, etc. In 1913, the Fruit Passage was built, which still amazes with its beautiful architecture. These are four two-storey buildings that are connected by arches. The whole composition looks solid and airy at the same time. Huge cast iron vases with fruit were installed on the columns. The enclosures, which are arranged in pairs, are interconnected by means of glass roofs. Each building has a basement floor, which allows storing products; there are shopping arcades on the ground floor. And although since its construction, the building has been rebuilt several times, however, today it is a real decoration of Pryvoz.

At the end of the 1990s, the market was expanded and reconstructed. So the fish and meat buildings were completed, along the Panteleimonovskaya street two shopping and office centers, numerous shops were built. The complex of shops, as well as the Black Sea hotel, were included in the complex, which was named "New Privoz".
