Description of the attraction

15 km from Lake Issyk-Kul are the Terskey Ala-Too mountains, where one of the most picturesque natural attractions of the region is located - the Jety-Oguz gorge, which in Kyrgyz means "Seven bulls". The 37 km long gorge got this name in honor of the reddish rocks, the number of which has increased in recent years due to the influence of wind and water. The cold mountain river Dzhety-Oguz, the waters of which feed the Maiden Spit waterfall, has made its way along the bottom of the gorge. Walking excursions are organized to it.

The slopes of the gorge are overgrown with shrubs and trees, mainly firs. Here you can see mushrooms, modest flowers, various herbs. Mountain goats and wolves live in the gorge.

A few decades ago, the Djety-Oguz tourist base was erected near the gorge, which is still working. Here you can book a room for a few days to explore the area at your own pace. The first step is to see the bizarre Broken Heart rock, which got its name from its characteristic shape. Another local attraction is the Jety-Oguz cave, which is about 100 meters deep. Groundwater undermines the walls of the cave, which threatens to collapse, so you should be extremely careful when visiting it. If travelers have time, then you can go to the high-mountain lakes, however, it is worth hiring a guide so as not to get lost.

A dirt road has been laid along the gorge, which ends in 10 km. Further you can only advance on foot or on horseback. Locals willingly ride horses for tourists.
