Agios Ioannis is a picturesque resort town on the Aegean coast, 5 km from Muresi and 52 km from Volos (Thesalia, Greece). It is located in an amazingly beautiful place at the foot of Mount Pelion and is literally buried in greenery.
Agios Ioannis is one of the oldest resorts in Pelion. Its tourist infrastructure began to develop back in the 60s of the last century, and over the past few decades it has completely turned the small town into a very popular resort. Today in Agios Ioannis you will find many comfortable hotels and apartments, as well as services and facilities necessary for tourists. Numerous restaurants, taverns and cafes will delight their guests with excellent local cuisine. There is also a small but functional port in Agios Ioannis. There is a fairly regular boat connection with Thessaloniki, Halkidiki and Skiathos.
The main asset of Agios Ioannis is undoubtedly its magnificent beach, about 800 meters long. This beach is a multiple owner of the honorary "blue flag" of UNESCO. There are two equally famous and beautiful beaches nearby, Papa Nero and Plaka.
Long hikers can explore the scenic slopes of Mount Pelion. It is also worth visiting the picturesque mountain settlements located near Agios Ioannis - Zagora, Muresi, Tsangarada and Kissos. Here you will find cozy squares with traditional taverns, beautiful historic buildings in the typical style of the region, many charming churches and a relaxing atmosphere of cordiality and hospitality of the locals.
