Description of the attraction
Minimundus is a theme park in the Austrian city of Klagenfurt in Carinthia. This is a miniature world on the shores of Lake Wörthersee, where you can see about 150 models of world famous buildings in miniature. The park allows you to travel around the world in one day, visiting the Sydney Opera House, the Eiffel Tower, the Taj Mahal, St. Peter's Basilica, the Statue of Liberty in the USA and many other famous buildings.
Most of the exhibits in the park are built with close attention to the smallest detail on a 1:25 scale using original materials (sandstone, basalt lava, marble). Even the smallest details - shutters, decorations, lanterns - are made with impeccable precision. Particularly popular in the park are technical models, for example, trains, which travel here a distance of 5,000 kilometers annually.
The park was founded in 1958 by councilor Peter Zuyer on an area of 15,000 square meters. Already in the first season, 48,182 people visited this small world. So the rapid development of Minimundus began. In 1962, the number of visitors reached six figures for the first time - 106,000 guests.
In 1977, the park area was expanded from 15,000 square meters to 26,000 square meters. This created space for many other models. In recent years, a children's playground has been created and summer evening concerts have been held.
