Description of the attraction

The Church of the Icon of the Mother of God Collection of the Dead in Chelyabinsk is a monument of hipped-roof architecture located on the outskirts of the city in the Metallurgical District.

The history of the white-stone church began in December 2001. The initiator of the construction was the General Director K. Yu. Zakharov and members of the board of directors of the Chelyabinsk plant Teplopribor. The project was developed by the architect Andrey Anisimov.

In June 2002, a service was held on the foundations before the construction of the walls began. At the end of the same year, the domes and crosses of the church were consecrated, and in February 2003 the first prayer service was held in its lower aisle. In July 2003, the lower side-altar was consecrated, after which regular services began to be held here. In the spring of 2004 bells for the church were purchased, and a little later the upper side-altar was consecrated.

The Church in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God is a small collection of the dead. It has two side-altars: the lower one - in the name of the Holy Royal Passion-bearers, the upper one - in honor of the Icon of the Mother of God “Seeking the Lost”. In the lower limit, there is a cross-shaped font where baptismal ceremonies are performed. On the side facade of the church, you can see a beautiful mosaic icon of the Mother of God “Seeking the Lost”. The church has icons painted by Palekh and Minsk artists.

The temple is surrounded by a beautiful birch grove. The church has a Sunday school for children and adults, and a library.
