Description of the attraction
Tulloch Castle is an ancient castle in Dingwall, Scotland. The castle was built by the Normans and the oldest parts date back to the 12th century. For many years it was the family residence of the Bane clans - according to surviving documents, they owned this castle already in the 16th century. However, in the 18th century, the castle changes ownership - Kenneth Bane sells it to his cousin Henry Davidson, and the Davidsons own the castle until the middle of the 20th century. After the operation to evacuate the allied troops from Dunkirk, the castle housed a military hospital, and in 1957 the local authorities bought the castle from the descendants of the Davidsons. For some time there was a student dormitory here, but soon the buildings required major repairs. In 1996, a hotel was housed in the castle.
They say that ghosts live in the castle - guests and hotel workers have repeatedly seen the ghostly figures of a young girl and an elderly lady, and some were even able to photograph the ghosts on camera.
An underground passage leads from Tulloch Castle to the ruins of Dingwall Castle. Now the move has collapsed, but you can look into it through the ventilation hole located in front of the castle. On the territory of the castle there is the Davidsons family cemetery - for family members and pets and animals. Now the cemetery is abandoned and overgrown, but some of the gravestones are still visible.
