Description of the attraction
The Museum of the History of the Khosta District is one of the cultural and educational attractions of Khosta. It is located on the street of the 50th anniversary of the USSR in a pre-revolutionary building. Previously, it housed the Khosta people's house, erected by members of the charitable society. There is a plaque on the house with an inscription, which says that in February 1918, it was in this place that Soviet power was declared, which extended to the Khosta volost.
In the Khosta people's house, concerts of many famous performers were held: S. V. Rachmaninov, F. M. Chaliapin and V. V. Barsova. In 1929 the poet V. V. Mayakovsky, whose speech was attended by his friends - M. Reisen, L. Zhukov, A. Messerer, A. Tsarman, V. Polonskaya, A. Sudakevich. During the Great Patriotic War, L. P. Orlova - People's Artist of the USSR.
The museum was opened in 1995. Very often it is called the museum of resort culture. The main exhibits of the museum are exhibits that describe the entire history of the development of the city of Sochi as a resort. It is dedicated to the best Sochi health resorts, about 40% of which are located in the Khosta district. This was one of the reasons for the opening of the museum in Khost.
The main activities of the museum are mass events and excursions for city guests, local residents and schoolchildren, lectures, stationary and traveling exhibitions. The exposition area of the museum is about 300 sq. m. There are wonderful collections in two museum halls. In total, there are over 9 thousand exhibits in the funds of the Museum of History of the Khosta District.
