Description of the attraction

The House-Museum "Battle in Ruse", located in the city of Ruse, is a museum of urban life. The building was built in 1864. It has survived to this day almost in its original form: not only the external appearance of the structure, but also the interior decoration has been perfectly preserved.

The house belonged to a wealthy family who lived in Ruse in the 19th century. This is a two-storey building that stands on the banks of the Danube River. Museum visitors can see the richly decorated interior: decorative marble columns, wooden wall panels, exquisite furniture, expensive household items, paintings and other unique works of art.

A legend is connected with the house-museum. It says that the wife of the foreign consul Maurice Kalisz used to live in this building. The girl possessed amazing beauty, for which she was nicknamed Calliope. Among those who were slain by the lovely Calliope was the city's governor, the Turks Midhad Pasha. Secretly in love with the handsome man, he presented her with a whole house as a gift.

A visit to the house-museum "Battle in Ruse" is recommended to all guests of the city who want to get to know more about the peculiarities of the life of the wealthy residents of the city of the last century, and simply to all lovers of antiquity.
