Description of the attraction

One of the iconic sights of Khanty-Mansiysk is the Church of Artemiy Verkolsky, located at the Northern cemetery of the city.

The history of the temple, erected in the name of the righteous youth Artemy Verkolsky, began in July 2004, after the project of its construction was blessed by Archbishop Dimitri of Tobolsk and Tyumen. In July of the same year, the rector of the church, Priest Sergei Kravtsov and Priest Alexei Simakov, served a prayer service before the construction began, after which they installed the Poklonniy Cross in the presence of believers on the site of the monastery's construction.

The church was built with funds donated by local residents and Gennady Dmitrievich Dvornikov, who initiated its construction. G. D. Dvornikov decided to build a temple in memory of his tragically deceased son Artyom. The author of this project was the architect I. I. Naumovets.

In October 2004, a divine service was served for the consecration and installation of the dome and cross on the church under construction. The exterior and interior decoration of the church was completed in mid-October 2005. On October 23 of the same year, the bells were consecrated on the belfry of the church of Artemiy Verkolsky. The solemn consecration of the temple itself took place in December 2005 by Vladyka Dimitri in the presence of the local leadership and parishioners.

The temple is a small one-domed church with a free-standing belfry. The throne was consecrated in the name of the holy righteous youth Artemy Verkolsky. The temple festival is celebrated on July 6 and November 2.

Today, the temple of Artemy Verkolsky in the city of Khanty-Mansiysk is active, services are regularly held here. The church has the status of attributed to the Church of the Sign.
