Description of the attraction

The old Imperial fishing lodge, built on the rapids of the Langinkoski River by the Grand Duke of Finland Alexander III in 1889 in a conservation area, was for several years a Finnish manor for summer holidays for the royal family. It is located in a picturesque park with an Orthodox chapel of the early 19th century, erected by the monks of the Valaam Monastery for holding Orthodox events here.

The two-storey house is very well preserved. Visitors can see massive Karelian birch furniture arranged in the living room, kitchen, study and bedrooms.

The favorite pastime of Empress Maria Feodorovna during her stay in Langinkoski was cooking various dishes for her family, and the emperor spent his free time, enthusiastically watching fish catching.

After the death of Alexander III, local residents in 1896 erected a stone in his memory with the inscription that the emperor enjoyed peace and comfort here under the protection of his loyal people.

Currently, only recreational fishing with bloodworms is allowed in Langinkoski. The museum has a model of a 36-kilogram life-size salmon caught in 1896 by a local fisherman.
