Description of the attraction
The Botanical Garden at the University of Basel, which is a pleasure to walk through, was founded in 1589 and is the oldest in the world. It belongs to the Botanical Faculty of the University and adjoins its territory.
The botanical garden is open all year round. It consists of an outdoor area with several sections such as a grove, a rock garden, areas for ferns, plants of the Mediterranean countries and others, greenhouses intended for keeping tropical plants, water lilies, succulents, and a cold greenhouse, where plants sensitive to cold are located., which change their location in the garden throughout the year. Here you can see many interesting and attention-grabbing plants, even those that are considered endangered.
On the territory of the Botanical Garden, there are group excursions for adults and separate excursions for children. For the convenience of visitors, there are also several cafeterias and lounges, a bookstore, where, in addition to books, you can buy postcards and posters.
