Description of the attraction

The building of the district communication center (post office) in the city of Naryan-Mar is located at Smidovich street, house No. 25. It is a "visiting card" of Naryan-Mar.

The post office building is an architectural monument of local importance. Made of wood (from a bar), two-story, decorated with a conical tower, similar to the buildings of Russian tent-roofed churches. The uniqueness and uniqueness of the building is given by an angle consisting of five volumes of various shapes. The central, square part of the corner is crowned with a tower in the form of a prism, the edges of which are cut through one by small windows, placed in triangular frames, tinted in white. The dome is made in the form of an octahedral pyramid. The side (from the main) volumes have gable roofs cut into the roofs of the left and right wings. Each of their gables has one small window with mesh frames. The facades are decorated with windows, one on each floor. It is noteworthy that the windows of the first and second floors have different shapes. The left opening of the second floor opens onto a small balcony with a carved wooden railing. Above the doorways of the main part, the sharp-angled roofs protruding from the wall are decorated with a carved pattern. All decorative elements are of the Nenets character, where the triangular shapes are similar to chums. The tower was originally designed with a clock that has a large dial. Before renovations in 2000, the tower was crowned with a spire, which was removed and lost.

The history of the building dates back to 1946. It was at this time that its construction began, which continued until 1952. Major repairs were carried out several times: in 1965, 1970 and 2000. In 2000, during the renovation, the wooden tower dome was covered with copper sheets. A clock appeared on the tower, which had worked for several years, and after it broke, it was removed.

Until August 1994, several organizations were located here: a telegraph office, a post office, city and intercity telephone exchanges. Currently, the building houses the Office of the Federal Postal Service of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug - a branch of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise "Russian Post". The administration of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug is located in the right wing of the building.

The building is in good condition.
