Description of the attraction

The house-museum of Maxim Bogdanovich in Grodno was founded in 1986 in the house where the Belarusian poet lived with his family in 1892-1896. Maxim Adamovich Bogdanovich is a classic poet of Belarusian literature. Born on November 27, 1891 in Minsk. In 1892, the Bogdanovich family moved to Grodno, where the poet's father, Adam Yegorovich Bogdanovich, got a job at the Peasant Bank. In 1896, Maxim's mother, Maria Afanasyevna Bogdanovich, died of tuberculosis, after which the family was forced to move to Nizhny Novgorod.

At the time when the Bogdanovichs lived in this house, famous people gathered in their intelligent family: writers, artists, scientists. Here music sounded and poems were recited.

In 1986, it was decided to create a literary department of the Grodno State Historical and Archaeological Museum in the house where the poet's family lived. The painstaking work began on the reconstruction of the interiors, the collection of documents and objects belonging to the Bogdanovich family. Already in 1995, there were more than 13 thousand items in the museum funds. The museum received its independence and a new name is the cultural institution "Museum of Maxim Bogdanovich".

The exposition of the museum is located in five rooms with a total area of 150 square meters: father's office, mother's room, children's room, living room, portrait gallery. The rooms have recreated the atmosphere in the form in which it was at the time when the poet's family lived here.

Now the museum hosts exhibitions, literary and musical evenings, excursions, holidays. House-Museum of Maxim Bogdanovich participates in the international action "Night of Museums".
