Description of the attraction
One of the most popular places in Cuba is the famous Rum Museum, which opened in 2000. It is here that tourists can see the complete production process of the Havana Club, the favorite Cuban rum all over the world. It is not surprising that more than 100 thousand tourists visit the museum every year. Rum appeared on the Island in the 16th century, when the production of alcohol from sugar cane began. The rum was preceded by vodka made from molasses. It is a syrupy liquid of dark brown color, which was obtained from sugarcane waste. Earlier, slaves from Africa brought aguardiente vodka for their magical rites. Already in the 19th century, the process of distilling vodka was improved, which significantly improved the taste of the drink. Cuban rum later became famous throughout the world. There are 4 types of Havana Club: Anejo (aged seven years), Carto Oro (aged five years), Carta Blanca (aged 3 years), Silver Dry (transparent, young rum used in cocktails). The Rum Museum contains an interesting collection of the history of the production and development of the famous drink. During the tour, you can see all the stages of its production: fermentation, distillation, filtration and aging. In addition, Cuban musicians perform at the museum every weekend. In their performance, you can listen to jazz, sleep and dance rumba with the "Tata Guines Junior y Sus Mulatas" orchestra.
