Description of the attraction

Dazzling white terraces (travertine formations) have formed on the mountainside as a result of the deposition of salts from calcium-saturated springs. Hot springs rich in iron and sulfur formed the red rocks of Karahait. Previously, it was allowed to walk barefoot on the salt terraces, but due to the large number of tourists visiting Pamukkale every year, this was prohibited. Now you can walk along the path or admire the magnificent view from afar.

The healing properties of local springs were known 4 thousand years ago. Cleopatra herself often came here to improve her health. In the II century, this place became the largest healing center in Asia Minor.

In the complex "Pamukkale Termal" you can try the beneficial effects of hot springs on yourself. Here in the "Sacred Basin" part of the streams originates, creating these travertine formations. There are 17 sources in total (with temperatures from +35 to +100 degrees).
