The Nubian Museum (officially the International Museum of Nubia) is located in Aswan, Upper Egypt, and is entirely dedicated to Nubian culture and civilization. It was built by the architect Mahmoud El-Hakim, the cost of the work was about 22 million dollars, the opening took place on November 23, 1997. In 2001, the Archaeological Museum was awarded the Aga Khan Prize for Architecture.

The Nubian Museum covers an area of 50 thousand square meters, 7 thousand of which are buildings, the rest of the territory is occupied by gardens and other public places. The building has three floors of exhibition halls, office and utility rooms, a library and an information center.

Most of the museum is occupied by monumental works reflecting the stages of development of Nubian culture and civilization. The exposition features three thousand exhibits representing different age periods; fossil-prehistoric, pharaonic, Roman, Coptic and Islamic periods, which succeeded each other on the territory of Nubia. The Open Doors (outdoor) exhibition includes 90 rare monumental works, the exhibition halls contain 50 priceless works dating back to prehistoric times, 503 items from the Pharaonic period, 52 items from the Coptic era, 103 Islamic artifacts, 140 Nubian times and 360 items reflecting the history of Aswan …

The museum is built on a steep cliff, its area allows you to embody three-dimensional compositions and architectural structures characteristic of the settlements of Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt. The buildings are surrounded by natural botanical gardens, which are home to a variety of Egyptian flora.
