Description of the attraction
The Karelian House Museum is one of the most interesting sights of Imatra. It is located in a picturesque place on the banks of the Vuoksa River, not far from the city center.
The museum is worth visiting not only for those interested in Finnish history. The life of an old Karelian village will not leave anyone indifferent. The amazing rural landscape of the 19th century has been recreated right in the open air. with courtyards, original houses and other various attributes of the Karelian life. On the territory of the museum, various buildings are collected, the oldest of which date back to the middle of the 19th century, as well as a large number of lovingly collected paintings that unfold live sketches of the life of the Karelian peasants of that time in front of their visitors.
The abundance of vivid details, carefully collected and preserved to this day, amazes visitors to the museum, making it one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Imatra.
The museum is open to the public from May to August. Every day from 10.00 to 18.00, Monday is a day off.
