The hottest places on earth are scattered all over the place. Each of them has not only unique climatic features, but also its own history, as well as national specifics. Living in such places for a person is always associated with overcoming difficulties. At the same time, temperature indicators become higher every year.

Deshte Lut, Iran

A place that can rightfully be called the hottest on the planet. The temperature in Deshte-Lut has risen to + 70 ° C. The desert is located on the border of Iran and Afghanistan.

The desert landscape is truly amazing: huge dunes 300 meters high, giant rock formations, salt flats, craters, forgotten castles. The desert owes its origin to such an unusual landscape. In place, the sea used to be empty, which dried up due to the collision of two giant plates. It rains in Deshte-Lut in spring, but very short-term.

The climate has greatly influenced the flora and fauna in the desert. From plants, only small shrubs are mainly found, from the animal world you can find various rodents and sometimes wolves. In the central part of the desert, life is completely absent, even bacteria.

Turpan, China

An amazing green oasis located in the northeastern part of China. Turpan ranks first in temperature in China and third in the world. The temperature here reaches +66, 7 ° C.

The city is often referred to as the "grape capital" of China, but in addition to grapes, many other fruits and grains are also grown in the district. Turpan is unique for many reasons:

  • water system providing constant water supply;
  • location in the Turpan depression at a depth of 154 meters below sea level;
  • surroundings in the form of medieval cities and settlements;
  • abnormally high temperatures.

San Luis Rio Colorado, Mexico

The modern city is located on the former part of the Sonoran Desert due to which it has a rather arid climate. The highest temperature indicator was officially recorded in 1955 and amounted to + 52 ° C.

Heat is not the city's only problem. Its territory is included in the zone of high seismic risk. After the 2010 earthquake, all of San Luis Rio Colorado was long without electricity, water and gasoline.

Death Valley, California, USA

Death Valley is considered the hottest climate in the United States. The highest temperature reached +56, 7 ° C.

Full of gold and silver, between 1849 and 1850, the valley attracted many gold prospectors. However, instead of gold, they found only their own death, from which this name arose.

Now Death Valley attracts tourists who want to enjoy its vastness. Zabriskie Point is one of the most beautiful places in the valley. The sediments left over from the ancient lake create a striking, surreal landscape.

Ghadames, Libya

Ghadames is a small town in northern Sahara with a population of 10,000 also known as the "pearl of the desert". It is located in the northwest of Libya on the border with Algeria and Tunisia. The maximum temperature reaches + 55 ° C.

A unique feature of the city is its numerous adobe buildings. Such houses are ideally adapted to the climate of the Sahara: they save from the heat in summer and protect from the cold in winter. Local residents irrigate the land with the waters of a spring that gushes out from under the desert lands for several centuries. Life-giving moisture allows you to grow three-tiered gardens.

Due to its colorfulness, the city is recognized as part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Timbuktu, Mali

It is an ancient city in the south of the Sahara Desert, 15 kilometers from the Niger River. Thermometer columns in this place exceeded the mark of + 54 ° C.

Drought reigns in the city almost all year round, and all the streets are covered with sand. The exception is September when floods occur. However, this only saves residents from the constant heat for a few weeks. Due to the high temperatures, the only crop that grows here is rice.

Despite the arid climate and unbearable heat, the city has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its architectural features and preserved national flavor.

Tirat Zvi, Israel

The hottest place in Israel is Kibbutz Tirat Tzvi, home to only 654 people. In 1942, the maximum temperature was set in this place, reaching +53, 7 ° C.

Salvation for the city is the proximity to the Jordan River. Thanks to the river's waters, the city remains fertile in such an arid climate and the locals have a constant source of water.

Thousands of date palms are grown on its territory, making this small city the premier date producer in Israel. In addition, the locals are adapting the dry soil to grow coconut palms and other fruit trees.
