The Czech Republic is deprived of its own piece of the sea, but it compensated for this circumstance by the presence of many reservoirs - fast rivers, beautiful lakes and ponds. The capital of the country, surrounded by picturesque creations of nature, is no exception, and therefore there are more than enough places to swim in Prague in summer.
Beach life is in full swing in almost all areas of the city, which is not surprising - in summer the air temperature can reach 30 degrees and above, calling to plunge into the saving coolness of the water.
Swimming places in Prague can be divided into several types: natural beaches by water bodies, outdoor pools, water stadiums and complexes. Regardless of the type of beach, they are united by several factors:
- Paid admission (single tickets, multi-visit pass, family tickets, etc.).
- A specific work schedule, most often from 9.00 to 20.00.
- Restrictions on bringing food and drinks, ban on entry with animals.
- A complete set of household and entertainment infrastructure.
- Separate areas for nudists.
In addition to the well-equipped zones, there are many places where you can swim in Prague for free - these are wild beaches located on the outskirts and in the suburbs. Here guests will find complete freedom, slightly overshadowed by the lack of service, but such corners are not crowded and guarantee the absence of excitement, tranquility and relaxation.
Now let's get to know the Prague oases a little closer and add some specifics.
Natural beaches
Recreation areas on lakes and rivers open from May and work until the end of September. There are grassy and sandy areas with natural or artificial embankments.
Žluté lázně
The leading position among the beach areas belongs to the town “Žluté lázně”. Its popularity is explained by the fact that it is located in the heart of Prague, on the right bank of the Vltava, and while enjoying the local sun, you can simultaneously admire the beauty of the old town.
The beach is fully equipped, there are sun loungers, awnings, changing rooms and showers, cafes and pubs, sports and playgrounds, children's areas. For lovers of outdoor activities, boats and catamarans are rented, there is even a dance floor where parties and discos take place.
Paradoxically, on this part of the Prague Riviera you can get all the pleasures of resort life, with the exception of the main thing - swimming is prohibited due to high water pollution. So, visitors can only admire the water surface, explore it by river transport, but, alas, they will not be able to plunge and refresh themselves. But from the places where to sunbathe and relax, this is the best, with excellent service and conditions.
Pražačka
Arranged on the shore of the lake, the beach stretches for as much as 200 meters, on which, in addition to sun loungers and life-saving umbrellas, there are playgrounds for sports games, tennis courts and cafes, where visitors are pleased not only with culinary delights, but also with live music.
Don't trust lake ecology? Then welcome to the outdoor pool with pre-purified water and a comfortable temperature. And in the evenings, sultry idleness is replaced by a party drive accompanied by incendiary tracks of DJs. After five in the evening, the entrance to the territory is free.
Divoká Šárka
"Divoku Sharku" can be called a conditionally natural beach - swimming takes place in pools filled with water from the Sharetsky stream, near which a recreation area is arranged. In the spacious grassy area, guests can sunbathe as much as they can, and when the sun and water procedures get tired, you can always play a game of ping-pong or have a glass of ice beer in the cafe.
For children, there is a wonderful playground, a swimming pool up to 50 cm deep, slides. The beach is focused on a relaxing holiday and is a great corner of Prague where you can swim with the whole family.
Hostivařská přehrada
Located on the banks of the reservoir, Hostivar will delight you with a vast sandy area and a picturesque backdrop from the forest. The bottom of the lake is gently sloping and sandy and is ideal for children.
So that guests do not get bored, there are sports grounds, zones for active games, boat and equipment rental. For younger visitors, there is a playground and a water slide. You can relax here all day long, because everything you need, including drinks and food, can be purchased right on the territory.
The beach is located on the border of the Prague-10 and Prague-15 districts.
Koupaliště Džbán
A quiet place in the Prague 6 district is addressed to lovers of grassy beaches and warm lake water. Those for whom lazy sunbathing and bathing is not enough can play volleyball or take a ride in the pond on a rented boat. All the attributes of everyday life in the form of changing rooms, showers, catering points and sun loungers are present.
Koupaliště Motol
This pond has earned the fame of the cleanest for the impeccable transparency of the water. The shore is covered with soft green grass, while the bottom is strewn with fine sand, specially brought to the delight of vacationers. If you were looking for a place where you can swim in absolute comfort, this is the place for you.
The infrastructure is represented by sun loungers, umbrellas, sports areas, changing cabins and showers. Several tents with drinks and treats are at the guests' disposal at once, equipment rental is available.
Koupaliště Šeberák
Residents of Prague-4 are hardly tormented by the question of where to go on a hot day, because a charming corner of nature is located nearby, hospitably receiving guests on the grassy shores. A distinctive feature of the beach is the opportunity to have picnics, barbecue and barbecue. If you are not in the mood to barbecue, you can buy ready-made treats at a local restaurant or from stalls.
For entertainment, boat trips and catamaran rides are provided. For younger guests, there is a playground and water slides. Changing rooms, sun loungers and other comfort elements are present by default.
Pools and water centers
The artificial beaches in Prague include indoor and outdoor pools and entire water complexes. Most of the establishments operate all year round and are among the places where swimming in the Czech Republic in the summer is safe and fun.
Podolí
The water stadium is located on the banks of the river. On the impressive grounds, there was a place for sunbathing areas and heated swimming pools. The complex is suitable not only for recreation, but also for professional training. There are two large open-air swimming pools, and another indoor reservoir welcomes guests all year round. Trampolines are offered to athletes and extremals. A pool with a safe depth and slides is addressed to children.
Additional services include a sauna, solarium, massage parlor and cafe.
Koupaliste Petynka
A favorite resting place for the townspeople and an excellent opportunity to swim to your heart's content in purified heated water. While the adults are swimming and getting tanned, the little ones can ride the water slides and splash in the paddling pool. Beach laziness takes place on the excellent grassy beach, while the active part of the holiday takes place on the volleyball court or at the ping-pong table. The beach is located in the Prague-6 area.
Čákovice
In Prague-9 there is a water center “Čákovice” with two 50-meter open-air swimming pools and a children's section with a pool, slides and a playground. You can soak up the sun on the grass, and the café obligingly offers snacks and full meals. Like other places where you can swim in Prague for a small fee, the complex offers additional entertainment, including table tennis.
Slavia
This stadium has three swimming pools at once, and two of them are designed for children's recreation and their depth does not exceed 80 cm. An adult 50-meter reservoir is perfect for active swimming and water relaxation. The complex is located in Prague-10.
Klánovice
A small but cozy complex of two swimming pools in the Prague-9 area. The first is designed for full-fledged swimming, the second is addressed to those who are insecure on the water and young guests. You can diversify your rest by playing table tennis.
Stírka
Talking about where in the Czech Republic you can swim in summer, it is impossible to ignore the Stirka stadium. It works in the summer season and, in addition to two swimming pools - an adult and a children's one, it offers a grassy beach, a sauna, massage and nail salon services. The complex "lives" in the area of Prague-8.
Kolovraty
A former fire tank, the pool now welcomes guests on a grassy beach. Nearby there is a playground where those who are hungry for active amusements can frolic with a ball. You can satisfy your hunger and thirst in a cafe.
