Going on a trip to Lithuania, you are planning to buy souvenirs and other products for your friends, relatives, colleagues. And therefore, the question of what to bring from Vilnius probably worries you too. Moreover, the capital of this small Baltic state has not yet been particularly marked with a personalized souvenir. For example, such as the famous "Riga Balsam" from Riga, or matryoshka dolls from Russia, or Spanish castanets and other brands that speak for themselves. Nevertheless, Vilnius also has a lot of interesting things for tourist shopping. Let's see what valuable travel experience many travelers have accumulated over the years.

Where is it all sold?

Vilnius is a modern European city, which, despite its small territory, is a major center of European trade. Therefore, for half a million residents there are six large shopping and entertainment centers. Each of them has a bunch of departments, and there are also many individual boutiques, specialty stores, markets where you can make souvenirs or just buy the things you need.

Prices are quite democratic and significantly lower than in Moscow or St. Petersburg. Among the products are well-known European brands that can be found in any major city in the world, but there are many purely local products and goods that are worth mentioning separately, as they are interesting for their national flavor.

What to bring from Vilnius if not amber?

"Sunstone" is traded everywhere here. It is used not just for making original jewelry, which is understandable and affordable. Amber is used here as an addition to various crafts and other handicrafts. For example, these are a variety of photo frames; picture frames depicting views of old Vilnius; as well as chess, candlesticks, small figurines and much, much more.

Very beautiful, warm products are pleasant to give and receive as a gift. And although the reserves of Lithuania's own amber were depleted and the warm stone began to be transported from the neighboring Kaliningrad region, the products made from it are still pleasant, made by the hands of Lithuanians, and therefore authentic.

Souvenir Basketball Ring

In shops, tourists will certainly see unusual souvenirs - basketball rings. Giving such an ordinary person is kind of dubious, but for a basketball fan, the gift will be the very thing. After all, it is Lithuania that is distinguished by its fanatical devotion to this particular sport, which is 100% represented and cultivated in local schools since childhood. That is why everything related to basketball (ball, hoop, jerseys with the names of your favorite players) is very widely represented in Vilnius souvenir shops. You can also buy a souvenir Lithuanian flag and other state symbols there.

Alcohol

It is absolutely impossible to visit Vilnius and not taste the famous Lithuanian beer. Beer, both local and European, is sold in huge quantities in specialized stores, in addition, it is available in any trade market.

As, however, and other alcoholic drinks, which, by the way, in Lithuania are sold only until 22:00. If you want to bring something truly Lithuanian with you, then buy the famous local liqueurs "Palanga", "Chocolate" or "Dainava", their taste is wonderful!

Another purely Lithuanian drink is the 999 liqueur. Three nines are three types of one drink, which is slightly weaker than vodka. Depending on the type of bottle, the tincture can be herbal, and then it looks like gin, citrus or honey. The cocktails contain a very tasty drink and, as they say, even a medicinal one.

And, of course, you can't get out of Vilnius without tasting the famous Lithuanian mead. Mead is a drink made from bread yeast, water, and honey. Sometimes juice is added to it instead of water, but in general, midus is produced in three main types.

This magical Lithuanian cheese

Wonderful Lithuanian cheeses are sold both in supermarkets and in specialized stores, where the choice is certainly better. Among the "specialty" Lithuanian cheeses is the "Dzhugas" cheese - delicious, delicate, has a very pleasant rich taste and aroma. Something like Parmesan, well, just awesome! By the way, there is a specialized cheese boutique in Vilnius with the same name. There you will surely find, in addition to Dzhugas, a large selection of a wide variety of cheeses produced in Lithuania, including: hard cheeses prepared according to the classic technologies of making rennet cheeses; creamy cheeses; smoked and processed cheese; cheeses filled with mushrooms, herbs, ham, etc.

Other food

Tourists often take a lot of Lithuanian bread with them. The local caraway bread is especially popular. In addition, Lithuanians have a special love for spices, in particular, aromatic salt for fish is popular both in the city itself and among its guests, it is taken as a gift from Lithuania. And from the fish itself, you can choose an original present in the form of a smoked eel.

A confectionery souvenir is the famous cake or cake (variously called) Shakotis. Something similar to the Russian anthill cake. No less popular are the products of the local confectionery factory "Victoria" - various sets of chocolates produced by the factory, which mastered the production of chocolate at the beginning of the 19th century.

Wool and linen products

An original gift for women will be products made of natural linen - napkins, tablecloths, embroidered bedding. Knitted products made with the use of national Lithuanian motives - mittens, hats, shawls, scarves for men, women and children - will be just as enjoyable. Even children's toys are crocheted in Vilnius.

Ceramic souvenirs

Traditional ceramics that can be brought from Vilnius are various beer mugs, ashtrays with the symbols of the city, as well as curious figurines of funny devils. The price of such gifts is low, and they are sold, like amber products, almost everywhere on the streets of the city.
