A country of eternal summer and smiling and modest people, Vietnam attracts with snow-white beaches in modern resorts, exotic colors of sunrises over the waters of the South China Sea and the relative cheapness of life even for not too wealthy foreigners. Having once visited a warm and generous land, many tourists understand that they do not want to return to the chilly Moscow winter at all, and therefore more and more often ask the question of how to move to Vietnam, lawyers, employees of visa centers and consultants of specialized resources on the Internet.
Where to begin?
For a trip to Vietnam for tourist purposes and for a period not exceeding 14 days, a Russian citizen does not need a visa. If your task is a long stay in the country, you will have to apply for a visa and regularly renew it or obtain a residence permit. The visa is issued by the consulates of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Russia.
If the permanent extension of the visa is not included in your plans for a calm and measured life, you will have to acquire a residence permit. In Vietnam, it provides advantages for a foreigner, allowing him to buy real estate, for example, or to exercise the right to leave the country and return to it without hindrance.
A temporary resident card or residence permit in Vietnam is issued on the basis of an employment contract with an employer, a marriage certificate or other documents provided by a foreigner along with certificates of health and no criminal record in Russia. A residence permit is issued for a period of three or five years and is extended as needed.
Legal ways to move to Vietnam for permanent residence
If life in Vietnam is your cherished goal, a house with a sea view is dreamed of every night, and difficulties and special oriental exoticism do not scare you, choose the most suitable reason for moving:
- Marriage to a Vietnamese citizen or citizen.
- Employment. Qualified personnel with knowledge of the English language are in particular demand.
- Investments in the economy of the republic.
All works are good
Vietnam is considered one of the most promising states in terms of employment and business organization in Southeast Asia. The economy of the republic is mainly based on the export of agricultural products, oil and gas, and therefore it is easiest to find work here for specialists in these sectors. The course towards industrialization in the country has become the reason for the constant demand for specialists in the field of the defense industry, pharmaceuticals, metallurgy and shipbuilding.
Vacancies are posted by recruiting agencies or specialized sites. Having picked up an interesting offer for himself, a potential immigrant must enlist the support of an employer by concluding a preliminary contract.
Service workers are also very popular - hairdressers and guides, cooks and waiters. You will be willingly recruited as teachers of English or French, pastry chefs, masseurs, nurses, operators and administrators in beach hotels. By the way, due to the expansion and growth of resort areas such as Nha Trang or Phan Thiet and their growing popularity among Russian tourists, the need for Russian-speaking guides and personnel in the service sector in Vietnam is growing every year.
The main conditions that a labor migrant in the SRV must meet are adulthood, good health, confirmed by the results of medical research, the presence of a secondary or higher education and no criminal record.
Business people
Setting up a business in Vietnam has many pitfalls, the main one being somewhat confusing business legislation. There are two ways to get your own company: buy a ready-made one from a Vietnamese and start your own business from scratch. In any case, a foreigner will have to acquire a business license, without which any commercial activity on the territory of the republic is not permitted.
By the way, the taxes that a foreigner will have to pay in Vietnam are quite significant and amount to 40 percent of the profit, but small and medium-sized businesses can receive a number of financial benefits, especially at the initial stage of the enterprise.
A residence permit can be granted to an immigrant who is going to open a very small business, for example, a car repair shop or a beach cafe for a couple of tables. However, the entrepreneur will have to keep in mind that his rights will be somewhat limited:
- It is impossible to buy land in Vietnam, but you can only get it on a long-term lease.
- Commercial and residential real estate can only be purchased by residents, and foreigners, even with a permanent residence permit, are not allowed to rent out their living space.
- If you are absent from Vietnam for more than 90 days, your property is transferred to the state.
Think for yourself, decide for yourself
Vietnam does not recognize dual citizenship and, when applying for a Vietnamese passport, the applicant must renounce his previous citizenship.
One of the prerequisites for obtaining Vietnamese citizenship is the successful passing of the state language exam, which is considered one of the most difficult in Asia. To possess the coveted passport, you will have to live in a temporary status for at least five years, without violating the migration legislation of the country.
