Going on an excursion or a business trip to the countries of Central Asia, a person always plans to return with new knowledge, emotions and impressions. And in the plans of a tourist or a business trip employee there is a mandatory purchase of gifts and souvenirs. Let's try to figure out what to bring from Tajikistan, how local goods differ from neighboring ones, what practical things can be bought in this country and how to please the family aesthetes who are left at home.

What to bring national from Tajikistan?

There are many answers to the question of what is the “most-most” national in Tajikistan. Residents of different regions of the country will give different options. But the leader, according to many, is "Suzane" - this is a hand-embroidered fabric that, on the one hand, plays a decorative role in the interior of a house or apartment.

On the other hand, this is a real work of art, since it is based on silk, velvet or cotton fabric, on which a skilled craftswoman makes embroidery. Suzane decorates many Tajik houses, is the main gift at official receptions, is sold in art salons or souvenir shops.

Historians cannot answer the question of when weaving appeared on the territory of Tajikistan, there is a feeling that it has always existed, and always at a high level. Moreover, various types of fabrics stand out, which have their own amazing names: zandona, which has survived to this day; alocha, an iridescent striped cotton or silk fabric; bekasam, a semi-silk multicolor fabric, previously made in Bukhara and Samarkand, and today mainly in Tajikistan.

It is important to note that ancient technologies are actively used today, natural silk and cotton are good to wear, do not fade, do not shrink. In addition to weaving itself, Tajik embroidery has become widespread, an important type of decorative and applied art, the main supplier of "precious" gifts for foreign guests. It can be called “precious” because it uses gold and silver thread, with the help of which stunningly beautiful patterns were created and created.

National clothes

Clothes made according to old patterns and technologies are no less popular among modern guests of Tajikistan. A complete set is bought by rare tourists, since its cost is quite high. Most often, guests are limited to one or two details. If we talk about a man's suit, then most often the following items are sold out: skullcap; shirt; trousers; rumol; robe.

In winter, the outfit is complemented by a wadded robe. The composition of the national men's costume without fail includes the "rumol" headscarf, given the hot climate in the country. He, like the skullcap, enjoys the increased attention of the guests. The scarf is necessarily decorated with embroidery in the form of a floral ornament. Headdresses are of two types, the first are also decorated with bright, sunny embroidery, the second are black and white, sometimes on a white field you can see an embroidered pepper or almond pod, which emphasizes loyalty to traditions.

The female traditional Tajik costume is similar to the male one - the same trousers and a shirt, only it is longer, decorated with embroidery. Before, women did not have winter clothes at all, since it was believed that in the cold season they had nothing to do outside. But an obligatory element of a woman's outfit was a burqa, or a dressing gown, or a bag that hid not only the face, but also the figure. The burqa is not popular with tourists, but they buy wide trousers and shirts with pleasure.

Interior and household items

Tajikistan is ready to offer foreign guests utilitarian items with a national character. For example, in Dushanbe, you can buy environmentally friendly wooden dishes, items that are used in cooking. A characteristic feature is the image of a four-leafed leaf and the red-black color of the products.

Men (and women-hostesses) will appreciate such a present as a Tajik knife, it is particularly durable and incredibly sharp. The handle of this edged weapon is made of bone, animal horns or a tree with a strange name - unabi (Chinese date).

Delicious Tajikistan

Products are slightly less popular with foreigners, this fact is easily explained, Tajik dishes are very tasty, aromatic and mouth-watering, but it is too difficult to cook them at home. Cooking the same pilaf can be called art, flour products that are cooked in tandoors, round wood-burning ovens, cannot be compared with those that European housewives bake in their electrical cabinets.

They bring from Tajikistan mainly seasonings, spices and dried herbs, which are often used in food preparation. The shopping list includes national sweets, including halva, pichak candies, and alarm (grape sugar flavored with spices).
