The capital of Tajikistan, the city of Dushanbe, translates as "Monday". Even the name of the city suggests that new impressions await tourists, and another, completely different from the usual, Tajikistan.
The history of the city began with the fact that at the beginning of the 17th century, a small bazaar was held at the crossroads of Asian roads on Mondays. A little later, the bazaar turned into a small village, expanding more and more. And the village turned into a regional center, where noisy markets were open not only once a week. Today, more than one wide street has been built in Dushanbe, there are several large squares, and amazingly beautiful parks with fountains are always crowded with people.
Botanical Garden
If you are visiting the capital of Tajikistan for the first time, be sure to include in your hiking route a visit to the Botanical Garden, which delights the eyes of its guests with a variety of incredibly beautiful plants. This is the world's first botanical garden, which originally had a huge variety of plants. The creation of the botanical garden (1940) is a merit of the famous biologist Gursky. That is why the garden is named after him, which is quite natural. There are four thousand trees and shrubs, specimens of which have been collected in various parts of the world.
Dusti Square
This square has another, local name - Druzhba Square. The square is always surprisingly clean, however, as in the whole city.
Dusti is the main city square. Residents of Dushanbe call it the “face” of the capital. It is here that various major events take place (festivals, exhibitions, concerts, promotions, etc.). You can always see numerous tourists on the square, but the townspeople themselves are not averse to walking along it.
In the center of Friendship Square there is a monument dedicated to the main Tajik ruler Ismail Samani. The monument was erected on the 1100th anniversary of the ruler's birth: Ismail Samani holds a golden scepter under the golden arch. The height of the monument is thirty meters.
