Any tourist, arriving at the most famous resort of Crimea, wonders what to visit in Yalta in the first place, and what to postpone until a later date. There are so many attractions in the city that you need to correctly prioritize. At the same time, you need to focus not only on the advice or instructions of friends, but also on your dreams and desires.
Travel by interest
Do you like exotic nature? Then you need to visit the Yalta Nature Reserve, carry out evening promenades along the embankment or climb the mountains, to the famous Ai-Petri. Does a resort guest love history? Then you can go on a trip around the city, trying to find traces of the presence of ancient Venetian merchants and Genoese sailors or Turkish conquerors.
Yalta is not just a resort, it is an open-air museum. Magnificent palaces, interesting architectural structures, historical baths and original monuments - all this can be seen in the city by choosing one of the many thematic excursions or by going on an independent hike through the city quarters and labyrinths.
Cultural walks
Most of the resort's guests begin their acquaintance with the city with excursions to the main architectural sights, although it is quite possible to do this without resorting to the services of professionals. Here is a list of places that you can visit in Yalta on your own:
- Massandra Palace;
- Bird home;
- the palace of the emir of Bukhara;
- a temple consecrated in honor of Alexander Nevsky;
- Armenian church.
This list can be continued almost endlessly, and each traveler will decide for himself what object to be visited at the top of the list.
Massandra Palace can be called one of the most romantic buildings of this kind in Yalta. Its first owner was supposed to be Prince S. Vorontsov, but he did not have time to wait, and therefore the unfinished building was acquired for the royal family, for the emperor Alexander III. Then his son, Nicholas II, came here to rest, although more often he visited the Livadia Palace. In Soviet times, party bosses, and, they say, Stalin himself rested here. Now this wonderful architectural monument has been turned into a museum and has become a common property. Moreover, not only adults, but also children like to visit here, since it resembles a fairy-tale castle.
What to visit in Yalta in one day
It is quite possible that such an object will become the visiting card of Yalta - the Swallow's Nest. This castle is stylized in medieval style and occupies the top of the Ai-Todor rock, as if hanging over the sea. Images of this beautiful architectural structure can be seen on every second Yalta souvenir.
The appearance of the castle was preserved, but the original interiors, unfortunately, have been lost. Today this palace acts as a cultural and exhibition center, regularly delighting local residents and tourists with interesting art and museum events.
If you want to get into an oriental fairy tale, then it is better to choose the palace of the Emir of Bukhara to visit. This is another well-known symbol of Yalta, built at the beginning of the twentieth century. It was not by chance that the emir chose this place for his residence - he was friends with the Russian emperor Nicholas II and wanted to be close to the royal family.
The snow-white building with an azure dome attracts attention from afar, it seems to have descended from the pages of a book of oriental fairy tales, decorated with intricate exquisite carvings, decorated with capitals. During the years of Soviet power, the building, of course, was nationalized, at one time it even housed the Oriental Museum. Now it is one of the buildings of the Yalta sanatorium, so getting inside is quite difficult. There is an option to choose this sanatorium for relaxation, and then enjoy life every day in the real palace of the emir.
Yalta sacred
A fairly large number of religious buildings have survived in the city, and they belong to different denominations. The most vivid impressions are left by the Cathedral of Alexander Nevsky, which is the main Orthodox church in the city. White and pink color was used for decoration; the cathedral has two tiers, beautiful open galleries and a hip-roofed porch. But the main thing is not the external design or the decor of the interiors, but the special mood that arises after visiting this holy place.
Another interesting religious site in Yalta is the Armenian Church. The history of its construction has a sad history. Poghos Ter-Ghukasyan, who was the patron of the construction, decided to build a temple in honor of his daughter, who passed away early. The architecture of the building resembles early Christian temples, built of volcanic tuff. Visitors are particularly impressed by the frescoes on the dome.
Yalta is an amazing resort town where every tourist will feel like a welcome guest.
