Let's start with the fact that this small state in Southeast Asia is called the city of the future - it is so unusual and modern in every possible sense of the word. Futuristic architecture and dazzling purity, modern technologies of everyday life and entertainment are successfully combined here with the carefully preserved heritage of our ancestors. But a beach vacation in Singapore is not for everybody, despite the subequatorial latitudes and an abundance of hotels on the seashore.
Where to go to sunbathe?
Singapore's beaches do not have a serene paradise landscape. The backdrop for sunbathers here are skyscrapers and one of the largest seaports in the region. And yet, it is possible to find an opportunity to sunbathe and swim here, if you do not look for too romantic atmosphere and do not chase classic beach photos.
Sentosa Island is a tropical paradise half a kilometer off the coast of Singapore. It looks more like an amusement park, because in addition to the usual beaches in such places, Sentosa offers attractions of all calibers and stripes and many nightlife venues. When choosing where to sunbathe on Sentosa, it is worth keeping in mind the peculiarities of its various beaches:
- Couples in love and other romantics beyond age and marital status prefer to relax on Tanjong. It is quite quiet here and you can enjoy the sun without fear of a volleyball flying in your direction, or a crowd of children who want to make a cake on your favorite meditation mat.
- A beach holiday in Singapore for the most active is popular on Siloso. This part of the coast of Sentosa Island is full of sports fields, night discos, bike paths and just pretty restaurants.
- It is customary in Palawan to sunbathe with children. In addition to the gently sloping entrance to the sea and the relatively shallow waters, this Singapore beach boasts the Palawan Amphitheater, a small petting zoo for toddlers.
Weather features of a beach holiday in Singapore
Located near the equator, Singapore experiences almost no temperature fluctuations throughout the year and its temperature is always close to + 30 ° C. The same values are shown by thermometers in the water of the Strait of Malacca. Despite the impressive temperatures, there is no scorching heat on the island, since the sea winds bring relative coolness.
The rainiest season is from November to January, while the relatively "dry" months are February, June and September. Hotel prices depend little on the time of year, and in Singapore it is almost always the beach season.
Calmness. Only calmness
The name of the island of Sentosa is translated from Malay as "tranquility". It is here that locals flock on weekends, and on other days - also tourists who want to taste a paradise beach holiday in Singapore.
You can get to Sentosa by metro, reaching HarbourFront station on the northeast line. The second popular way is to walk along the pedestrian path that connects Singapore itself to the beach island. The distance is about five hundred meters. Moreover, on the multi-level structure there are special self-propelled sidewalks for those who are too lazy to move on their own. The boardwalk is paid. The ticket costs one Singapore dollar. A monorail ride will cost more, three dollars, and a cable car, more than 20 dollars for an adult ticket.
Not a single tan
Going to Sentosa, you should not think that the business will be limited only to the beach and swimming in the sea. On the island you can spend the whole day actively and informatively:
- The Sky Tower, the tallest observation tower in Singapore, offers magnificent views of the surrounding area.
- At the Vulcanoland amusement park there is a chance to get acquainted with prehistoric animals.
- Spa visitors are offered a luxurious self-care program using healing seaweed and volcanic mud.
- The laser show of the musical fountains will leave a lasting impression on those who stay on Sentosa until late at night.
- In the aquarium in a transparent underwater tunnel, every visitor will feel like an inhabitant of the deep sea. In a safe option.
- The Butterfly and Insect Park is like a fairy-tale world. The most beautiful inhabitants of tropical gardens contact guests and allow them to take magnificent photos as a souvenir.
For recluses and romantics
Unlike the promoted beaches on Sentosa, the coast of Pulau Ubin and Pulau Tekong islands is almost not in demand among Russian tourists. There is no special infrastructure, and beach holidays in Singapore in these places are practiced by lovers of seclusion and natural views without skyscrapers propping up the clouds in the background.
Getting to Ubin is easy and simple by boats, sailing from the Changi Point Ferry Terminal in Singapore in the morning. The first ship departs at 7:00 and a one-way ticket costs about S $ 3. A shopping street with cafes and bike rentals begins on the islet right from the pier.
The beaches on Ubin are absolutely wild and unequipped, and the locals go fishing on them, but those who prefer wild nature will love the island.
Tours to Tekong are organized by local agencies. Here you can sunbathe and swim on the sandy beach and visit the ancient Hindu temples along the way.
