One of the main Scandinavian attractions are huge fjords. In Norway, their depth may well reach thousands of meters, and their length - several tens of kilometers. Similar natural phenomena are found in Chile and New Zealand, the USA and Iceland, but it is the fjords of Norway that hold the record among their own kind:
- The longest fjord in the land of the trolls is called Sogne. It juts out into the land for 219 km and is second only in length to the Greenlandic Scorsby. Its depth is 1308 meters.
- Trondheims has the largest width among the fjords of the planet. In some places, its shores are 24 km apart.
- The third longest in the world is the Hardanger. It is located in a unique region of Norway, famous for its … fruits. Paradoxically, these northern latitudes have record harvests of cherries, apples, pears and plums.
Tourism and rest
The Norwegian fjords are popular tourist destinations. Most of the travelers follow these routes in the summer, when the weather is especially favorable for sightseeing.
