Guests of Colombia can walk through the courtyards of Cartagena, admiring its colonial facades, relax on the beaches of Santa Marta, climb the funicular to the top of Montserrat mountain, explore the treasure of the Andes and see the monuments of ancient Indian civilizations, attend interesting events (Caribbean Music Festival; Carnival in Pasto). Tequendama
This waterfall, with a total height of 157 m (maximum fall height - 140 m), is located on the Bogota River and is part of a forested area (the waterfall is always deep, with the exception of December, when it is exposed to drought).
Local residents will tell everyone the legend about the origin of the Takendama waterfall (translated as “Open door”): at the time when savages lived here, a good old man with his evil wife appeared among them. He taught the savages to wear clothes, to cultivate the land, to form communities, to build dwellings. Chia, the wife of an old man named Idakanza, decided to enchant the river, as a result of which the valley of Bogota was flooded, and many people died. As punishment, Idakansa turned Chia into a moon, and then struck the rocks, forcing the waters of the river to fall down from the formed crevice. After that, the inhabitants were able to return to the valley, where the elder built cities for them, gave each tribe a leader, and he himself retired to another valley, where he lived as a righteous man for about 2000 years.
On the opposite side of the gorge from Takendama, the hotel is located - there is the best point (observation deck) for observing the waterfall. But today, unfortunately, due to the unpleasant smell from the waste entering the river, only a few tourists can be found in these places (at the moment, work is underway to cleanse Bogota and the surrounding area, and restore the previous splendor of the waterfall).
Tequendamita
Named after Tequendam, this 20-meter waterfall on the Buey River is quite picturesque and is the main natural attraction in the Antioquia department.
Bordones
This waterfall has 4 rapids and reaches a height of about 400 m. Once here, travelers admire the water streams surrounded by high mountains and dense vegetation.
In addition to the Bordones waterfall, travelers will find many interesting objects in the Purase park: here you can see picturesque lakes, sulfuric hot springs, steep canyons, volcanoes (the most famous is the active Purase stratovolcano, more than 4700 m high); here you will be able to admire the varied and abundant vegetation, in particular, orchids and wax palms, and a considerable territory of the park is also occupied by vineyards. To see all this, special hiking trails are laid here. And for those wishing to have a snack or stay in this area for a couple of days, hotels and restaurants have been built in the park.
