Many rivers of Albania, starting high in the mountains in the east of the country, are characterized by high flow rates and for the most part flow into the waters of the Adriatic Sea.
White Drin River
White Drin crosses the lands of two states - Serbia and Albania. The total length of the channel is one hundred and seventy-five kilometers. The source of the river is located on the territory of Kosovo (near the town of Pecs). But the river ends the path on the lands of Albania (near the town of Kukes). It is here that the White Drin merges with the Black Drin.
The total catchment area of the river is almost five thousand square meters with an average water discharge of fifty-six cubic centimeters per minute. During the flood period, which comes in the autumn-winter period, the water level in the river rises significantly. White Drin is not navigable.
Buna river
The river bed crosses the territories of two countries - Albania and Montenegro. The source of the river was Lake Skadarskoe (not far from the city of Shkoder), and the place of confluence is the water area of the Adriatic Sea. The channel is forty-one kilometers long.
Drin River
Drin is the largest river in Albania. The total length of the current is two hundred and eighty kilometers with a total catchment area of twelve thousand square kilometers.
The source of the river is in the northern part of the country near the town of Kukes. It is here that the confluence of the White and Black Drin is located. The length of the river from the confluence of the rivers to the outlet is one hundred and forty-eight kilometers. But if we take into account the length of the Black Drin, then the total length will be two hundred and eighty kilometers.
Near the small town of Shkoder, located in the coastal lowland, the river channel is divided into two branches. The fifteen-meter - short - sleeve is called the Big Drin and flows into the Buna River (the confluence is in the vicinity of Rozaf Castle). The southern arm ends the path, flowing into the waters of the Drinsky Bay (near the town of Lezha). The Drin bed is blocked by hydroelectric dams in three places. They provide electricity to most of the country.
River Tsievna
The channel of the Tsievna flows through the western territories of the Balkans, crossing the lands of Albania and Montenegro. The total length of the river is sixty-two kilometers with a catchment area of three hundred and sixty-eight square kilometers.
The source of the river is located on the slopes of the Alps (Mount Prokletije, the territory of Albania). The mouth of the Tsievna is the Moraca River. The main way to feed the river is melting snow and glaciers, as well as rains. In the spring, the river floods, but not too much. Although the floods with rains can be very strong.
The river has become a habitat for twenty-two species of fish, in particular, eels and salmon are found here. The waters of the river are actively used for irrigation. There are also beautiful places on the river. So, not far from the confluence of Moraca and Cievna, there is a very beautiful waterfall.
