Any person who is at least a little familiar with the history and natural resources of this area will easily and easily guess which animal adorns the coat of arms of the Primorsky Territory. Naturally, this is a beautiful and formidable predator - the Ussuri tiger.

The heraldic symbol of the region was approved in February 1995, then the law of the Primorsky Territory was amended in December 2002. In addition to the fact that the legal norms regarding the image, symbols, color palette are fixed in the local law, it is also registered in the State Heraldic Register operating in the territory of the Russian Federation.

Coat of arms color palette

Only three colors are used to depict the official symbol of the Primorsky Territory, and a rather unusual combination of blue and green is used. Any color photo highlights this.

The third color, present in the coat of arms palette, conveys a shade of precious gold and is used to depict a tiger. On the one hand, this color is natural for the most famous predator inhabiting these territories. On the other hand, gold has its own definite meaning in the heraldic tradition, it symbolizes wealth, luxury, the desire for prosperity, and confidence. The local law also interprets the color of gold as a symbol of the diversity of the flora and fauna of the Primorsky Territory.

Description of the coat of arms

The main heraldic symbol of the Primorsky Territory can be displayed in various versions, it contains the following main elements:

  • shield of the most widespread French form in Russian heraldry;
  • framing a wreath of oak leaves intertwined with a ribbon;
  • gold royal headdress.

The shield itself is painted in a rich green (emerald) color, on top of it there is an azure, the so-called St. Andrew's cross. The Ussuri tiger is depicted in the foreground. The predatory animal is shown in profile, in motion, with a menacingly raised tail and a grin.

Two colors, azure and gold, depicted on the shield, are repeated in the frame - a wreath of oak leaves is written in gold, a ribbon is painted in azure.

According to the law of the Primorsky Territory, green is associated with the lush vegetation of the taiga and the sea coast, it is a symbol of abundance and hope. St. Andrew's Cross is associated with the sea, as the main wealth of the region, symbolizes the geographical position and the important role of the fleet in the development of the region.
