The capital of China invites tourists to stroll through the 798 Art Zone to admire new and old architectural styles and forms; spend time in the picturesque Beihai Park; visit the Peking Opera; immerse yourself in the nightlife with its entertainment on Sanlitun Street or in the Udaokou area; attend the international festival of tourism and culture in September.
Sky Temple
The temple, a symbol of Beijing, built in the shape of a circle, for about 500 years was a place where once a year the emperors performed rituals of prayers to the elements of Heaven (petitions for the occurrence of rain, wind, heat and cold according to the eternal natural cycles) and the Earth (petitions for a generous harvest).
In the temple complex of interest is the hall where the emperors prepared for prayers, the Huangqunyu temple (famous for the “talking wall” - thanks to its unique design, it is an excellent conductor of sounds; in addition, here you can get acquainted with the tablets, which reflect the names of all Chinese rulers), and also buildings where you can admire ancient musical instruments and objects for rituals.
Around the temple is a cypress park: tourists rest here, and the Chinese are engaged in Chinese gymnastics and various martial arts.
Forbidden City
The Forbidden City consists of 2 parts - the Outer (its purpose was to conduct ceremonial rites) and the Inner (the emperor lived here with his family, where he was engaged in state and everyday affairs) palaces.
Previously, it was forbidden to enter the palace complex, built of bricks, tiles, wood and marble, but today everyone can get here (on 72 hectares there are about 800 buildings in the form of gazebos, galleries, pavilions) for 40-60 yuan (the price depends from the season). Here you will be able to visit permanent exhibitions (you can admire the royal Chinese porcelain and ambassadorial gifts) and new collections (Chinese painting, calligraphy). And those who wish, having paid separately for the entrance of 10 yuan, will be able to visit the Hall of Hours and the Treasure Gallery.
Beijing TV Tower
The TV tower, 405 m high, has prepared several surprises for travelers: they will be able to admire the representatives of the marine fauna in the Taipingian underwater world (there is an 80-meter transparent tunnel); enjoy the panorama of the Summer Palace, White Pagoda and other places of interest from the observation deck from a height of over 230 m (you can see the details using a powerful telescope); dine in a revolving restaurant (pleases visitors with European and Chinese dishes) at a height of 220 meters. It is worth noting that every year a race takes place in the TV tower, the participants of which run upstairs, leaving at least 1,400 steps behind them.
