The districts of Stuttgart can be seen on the map of the state capital of Baden-Württemberg (the most significant places of these districts should be included in the recreation program).

District names and descriptions

  • Historic center: its main attractions are the New Palace (it is closed to visitors, since the government of Baden-Württemberg is located in the palace; you can capture the Baroque building itself in the photo) and the Old Palace (despite numerous reconstructions, it is made in the form of a medieval castle; the former only the Quersaal room can boast of a historical appearance), the Old Castle (it is worth visiting the museum, the exposition of which “tells” about the sphere of life of the city of different times; Charles I and Olga rest in the royal tomb inside the castle church), the Town Hall (famous for the clock tower, height more than 60 m; every day at a certain time, the clock delights guests with its music - Swabian folk songs; if you wish, you can dine at the restaurant "Ratskeller", which is open in the basement of the building), the Stiftskirche church (first built in the 11th century, but due to bombing in 1944, it had to be restored, guided by archival documents and drawings), Old State Galle Ray (you will be able to admire the painting and graphics of the 14-19 centuries, the works of Rubens, Renoir, Rembrandt, Canaletto). It is worth noting that on the Market Square once a year, on the Night of Museums, you can see the rooms of the “Bunker Hotel”.
  • Bad Cannstatt: attention should be paid to the Mercedes-Benz Museum (the building reflects the Art Nouveau style; at least 160 vehicles of different years of production are subject to inspection; the tour can take about 5 hours), the palace complex and the Wilhelm Zoological and Botanical Park (the complex is an example of the neo-Moorish style; more than 8000 animals live in the park, more than 5500 plants grow, a nursery has been opened with young apes living there). In addition, the area invites guests to take part in the celebration of the autumn and spring festivals.
  • Zuffenhausen: the Porsche Museum is of interest (there are 80 cars on display; each of the exhibits can be viewed independently using the audio guide) - to decide where to start your inspection, you can look around the exhibits by going up to the exhibition hall on an escalator.

Vacationers in Stuttgart should be advised to visit the Solitude castle (they will be able to visit the production premises and exhibition halls), look into the Pig Museum (since in Germany the pig symbolizes good luck, a museum dedicated to this animal is open in the city - the collection has about 40,000 plastic, porcelain, plush, glass and pigs created from other materials), go to the “Swabian Springs” (you can swim in the pool surrounded by natural rocks all year round).

Where to stay for tourists

The best option is to rent an apartment in the center of Stuttgart, but hotel rooms here are more expensive than on the outskirts of the city (comfortable guesthouses - from 30 euros; hotels with 3 stars - from 45 euros, with 4 stars - from 70 euros).
