Cradle of German automotive industry Stuttgart is one of the largest not only economic, but also cultural centers in Germany. Being here on vacation or on a business trip, guests of the city willingly visit sights, get acquainted with museum expositions and, of course, take part in the Früllingsfest beer festival, which begins in the suburbs of Stuttgart at the end of April.

Schiller's homeland

The famous German poet, philosopher and playwright was born in the suburbs of Stuttgart. The town of Marbach is located two dozen kilometers north of the metropolis, surrounded by vineyards and orchards. As far back as the 10th century, the city is mentioned in chronicles, and its most important sights are located in the medieval streets of the old center.

The house where Friedrich Schiller was born has now been turned into a literary museum. It contains personal belongings that belonged to the poet and his family, important historical documents and the first editions of books. In the Schillerhöhe Park, there is an exposition of the Literary Archive, which presents interesting rarities of German poetry and prose of the 18th-19th centuries and documents relating to the development of literature in Germany.

City on the hills

Tübingen is located on the hills in the Neckar Valley and one third of its population is students. This suburb of Stuttgart is known as the most youthful not only in the region, but also in Germany.

The main historical and architectural landmark of Tübingen is the Cistercian monastery, founded in the 12th century. On the territory of the monastery there are preserved old tarpaulins and a cemetery, a dormitory with 29 cells and a refectory of the 16th century. The monastery garden is an excellent example of park art, and the Green Tower is considered the hallmark of this suburb of Stuttgart.

Tubingen looks very smart and picturesque at any time of the year. Half-timbered houses give it a special style - with white walls, as if crossed out by dark beams. On the central square, you can admire the old fountain and taste many varieties of local beer in one of the city's restaurants.

The lists include

In the suburbs of Stuttgart, there are many medieval castles, which you can devote a few days of vacation to:

  • Ludwigsburg offers its guests a guided tour of the castle from the first third of the 18th century.
  • In the town of Bad Cannstatt stands the 19th century Rosenstein Castle, surrounded by a magnificent park with sculptures and fountains.
  • In the suburb of Plieningen, you can feel like a brave knight or a rescued princess while walking through Hohenheim Castle, built at the end of the 18th century.
