Not only in the Old World, but throughout the world, the zoo of Madrid is one of the oldest. It was opened back in 1770 and since then the zoological garden in Casa de Campo in the capital of Spain has won the right to become a full member of the European Association of Zoos and Aquariums.
Zoo Aquarium in Madrid
This name of the zoo in Madrid hides not only many aviaries in which thousands of our smaller brothers live, but also a huge aquarium with sea water, representing the fauna and flora of the underwater world. Six thousand zoo pets came to Madrid from all over the world. The main pride of the park workers is the giant pandas presented to the King of Spain by the People's Republic of China. It was here that the first panda cub in Europe was born in 1982.
Australian koalas are equally delighted with visitors, who receive daily a huge batch of fresh eucalyptus leaves from Huelva, a province in southwestern Spain.
The collection of primates in the park is one of the most diverse in Europe. In Madrid, you can meet lowland gorillas, orangutans from Borneo, chimpanzees, and cute Madagascar lemurs.

A special bus runs from the metro to the park with zoo symbols on its side.
