The zoological garden of the German capital is one of the ten very first opened in the world. It appeared on the map of the city in 1844, and a quarter of a century later, Dr. Heinrich Bodinus took over the reins. Under him, the Berlin Zoo became a real attraction. The doctor supervised the construction of the famous Elephant Gate, which adorns the entrance to the park, and suggested building enclosures for better observation of ostriches, antelopes, elephants and flamingos. For the convenience of visitors, restaurants were opened on the territory, where it was customary to meet with friends and arrange Sunday family dinners.

Berlin Zoological Garden

This is how the name of the zoo in the capital of Germany sounds in translation from German. Visitors are given a unique opportunity to get acquainted with 15,000 animals representing more than one and a half thousand species.

Pride and achievement

Particularly rare species such as giant pandas and kiwi birds can be seen at the Berlin Zoo. The employees are proud of the gorilla population, for which the living conditions are created as close as possible to natural conditions. Tigers coexist with lions in enclosures, zebras with rhinos, and the favorite pastime of the regulars is watching the feeding of various groups of the zoo's inhabitants.

How to get there?

The exact address of the Berlin Zoo is Hardenbergplatz 8, 10787 Berlin, and the easiest way to get to the favorite vacation spot of Germans and guests of the capital is by metro U-bahn. Get off at the Zoologischer Garden station, which is located at the intersection of lines U2, U12 and U9. The zoo is included in the N100 tourist bus route.
