The districts of Jurmala are reflected on the map of this Latvian resort city. The districts of Jurmala include Vaivari, Lielupe, Majori, Dzintari, Pumpuri, Bulduri, Jaunkemeri, Jaundubuty and others. There are 16 of them in total.
Description and attractions of the districts
- Lielupe: interesting for indoor tennis courts, a sandy beach, buildings where famous personalities lived, for example, Janis Zalitis and Paul Stradin, Livu Akvaparks water park (invites guests to spend time in any of 4 zones, experience extreme attractions, including Tornado, and also look into the salt room, try contrasting and other procedures in the local spa-complex) and the Ragakapa Natural Park, which has hiking trails (Pine Trail, Nature Trail, and others) and a museum (you can see a 19th century fishing house, collection ropes, fishing boats and anchors, and here you can also enjoy smoked fish and Latvian beer). It should be noted that the park is a habitat for rare plants and a habitat for protected bird species.
- Kemeri: of interest are healing factors (three types of mineral waters, sapropel and peat mud), the "Turtle" sculpture and the National Natural Park (for the convenience of guests, there are research trails, observation towers for bird watching; there is a School of Natural History - those who wish can take part in research studies in a swamp or forest).
- Dzintari: popular thanks to the Dzintari Concert Hall (venue for concerts and various events) and the forest park of the same name (guests will be able to breathe in the clean pine air, admire and photograph a beautiful panorama from the observation deck, spend time actively in the skate park and on the roller skates).
- Majori: luxury hotels and spa centers, Jomas street with cafes and restaurants, a park where a monument to Rainis and Aspazija is erected, the People's House of Jurmala, the von Firks manor brought him fame.
Where to stay for tourists
If it is important for you to be involved in an active tourist life, then accommodation facilities in the central districts of Jurmala - Majori and Dzintari are suitable for you. Those who are interested in an area with a developed infrastructure can pay attention to the Lielupe district (the hotel “Lielupe”, a water park, supermarket “Rimi”).
The Kemeri region may be suitable for living and restoring health - despite some abandonment of this climatic and balneo-mud place, today some sanatoriums function here.
