As a rule, tourists do not know the areas of Phuket, since many prefer the beaches on the west coast. But looking at the map of the island, you can see that it is divided into 3 large regions and 17 sub-regions.

The Muang area is interesting for the Phuket Town located here. During excursion programs, tourists will be offered to visit the main attractions of the city:

  • Chinpracha's house - a mansion in the Sino-colonial style; a museum is open here;
  • Tai Hua Museum - here you can not only admire valuable books and ancient artifacts, but also get to interesting exhibitions and events;
  • House of the Beautiful Images - photo exhibitions are held here, you can drink coffee in a local cafe;
  • Palace of Arts - in three rooms, collections of beautifully carved wooden furniture, figurines of deities, lamps, vases are presented;
  • Philatelic Museum with a huge collection of stamps;
  • Oceanarium - you can see butterfly fish, blue horse mackerel and wrasse: there is a glass tunnel.

It is worth noting that the beaches of Karon, Nai Harn, Rawai are included in Muang.

The Kathu area is interesting for tourists with the following sights and places:

  • Kathu Falls - on a hot day, you can swim on the terrace, go wakeboarding on the nearby lake and visit the Palazzo show restaurant;
  • Patong Beach - 4 km long beach; yachting, diving, underwater fishing;
  • Kamala beach is a calm and uncrowded place where you can soak up the white sand, swim, snorkel and dive; in the north of Kamala, surfing is developed, since the waves there reach 3 m.

Thalang area: despite the fact that there are Mai Khao beaches (not equipped with sun loungers, but the main advantage lies in its lack of people), Bang Tao (ideal for windsurfers), Nai Yang (June-September is suitable for surfing), travelers love to spend your leisure time in the Khao Phra Thaeo National Park, which is famous for the Ton Sai and Bang Pae waterfalls. In this park, they will be waiting for "Flight of the Gibbon" - entertainment involves moving between trees along tight cables, and in addition, you can ride an elephant. As for the cultural program, Thalang can offer tourists to explore the Wat Phra Thong temple.

Where to stay for tourists

Travelers who dream of a vibrant nightlife with go-go bars, exotic shows and Simon Cabaret transvestite shows should opt for Patong (this is where Bangla Road is located).

To save money on accommodation, you can stay near Kamala Beach - there are mainly 3-star hotels and budget guesthouses. Hotels on Bang Tao Beach can become an equally comfortable place for recreation - they have their own beach and developed infrastructure (swimming pools, playgrounds, sun loungers).

Are you one of those who can easily camp in a tent on the coast? Nai Yang beach is suitable for you (accommodation in a tent - 200 baht).
