The rivers of Canada are distinguished by their full flow. Moreover, the entire territory of the country, if you look at its map, is almost completely covered with blue threads of waterways.

St. Lawrence River

The St. Lawrence River is one of the largest rivers in North America. Its channel runs through the territory of two countries - Canada and the United States. The total length is over a thousand kilometers. The river owes its name to Jacques Cartier, the founder of the French colony in the river valley.

The river at all times remained one of the most important trade routes, since it connects the Great Lakes with the waters of the Atlantic. And if earlier fur traders traveled along it, now there are modern cargo ships.

The river becomes especially picturesque when passing through the province of Quebec, forming the Sagenay fjord. The river of the same name is the northern tributary of St. Lawrence. At the same time, the place of confluence looks rather unusual, since the ocean waters "meet" here (rise here at high tide) and the river current. The channel below Montreal has many rapids. And only in the lower reaches the river becomes calm.

Beluga whales and fin whales live in the waters of St. Lawrence. In addition, the river is rich in fish. A huge number of different species of birds live on the shores.

Mattawa River

A miniature Canadian river (its length is only 54 kilometers), included in the list of protected rivers in the country. Its shores are ideal for recreation and fishing. Here you can enjoy excellent fishing, filling the cage with excellent prey: carp, pike and even trout.

The story of Mattava is also interesting. For a long time (more than two centuries) its channel remained the only way to transport furs and furs. At the end of the 19th century, the river became more popular precisely as a resting place, since railroad tracks were laid along the banks. The railway began to function in 1887.

Buck River

Buck is one of the natural attractions of the town of Nunavut. The total length of the river is 974 kilometers.

There are a huge number of different types of fish in the waters of the river. In addition, the shores of the Bak are incredibly beautiful. The first settlers here were Indian tribes who called the river as a "fish river". The catch of trout and sturgeon today allows fishermen to compose famous tales about local giants.

Numerous birds have chosen the banks of the river for their summer nesting. Only the white goose and the Canadian goose are permanent residents.
