Asian cuisine is the culinary preferences of peoples living on the large continent of Asia (local cuisine is famous for its exoticism and diversity).
National cuisine of Asia
Asian cuisine is distinguished by its aroma and spice, and a key feature of this cuisine is the widespread use of rice dishes. For example, in India long-grain basmati rice is preferred, in Japan - round rice, in Thailand - sticky long-grain jasmine rice. As additives, ginger, coconut milk, fish sauce, chili seasoning, curry paste are often used. For example, in China, dishes are seasoned with fennel, anise, star anise, Sichuan pepper, and in Korea, fried sesame is added to almost all dishes.
But in order to better understand what Asian cuisine is, it is advisable to consider the cuisines of individual countries. So, in Japanese cuisine, sushi, fish in batter ("tempura") and seafood kebabs ("kushiyaki") are held in high esteem, in Thai - "tom yam kung" (a dish in the form of a spicy sweet and sour soup on chicken broth with fish and seafood), in Chinese - Peking duck and pork in sweet and sour sauce, in Uzbek - pilaf.
Popular Asian dishes:
- “Basma” (a stew of beef, tomato, eggplant, potatoes, onions, carrots, garlic, spices);
- "Shurpa" (soup with meat broth with vegetables and spices);
- "Norimaki" (a dish in the form of Japanese cabbage rolls with rice and fish, which are wrapped in seaweed);
- "Miso" (soup based on miso paste made from beans, barley, rice and wheat);
- Pad thai (a dish of rice noodles, nuts, fried shrimp, beans, pepper, lime juice, fish sauce, tofu, garlic).
Where to try Asian food?
Wherever you are on holiday, you are unlikely to have difficulties finding restaurants of Asian cuisine - restaurants are open everywhere where you can taste dishes of Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Indian and other cuisines.
In Bangkok, you can have a bite to eat at Eat Me (here guests are offered to taste Parma ham rolls and scallops; fruit garnish and seafood with Asian spices; prunes soaked in port), in Vung Tau - at Lan Run (in the menu, guests will find Asian and dishes of European cuisine, and the dish of fried crab claws with cheese filling and sauce is recommended for tasting), in Hong Kong - in T'ang Court (in this restaurant it is recommended to try crispy eel with lemon and honey sauce, as well as baked oysters).
Cooking courses in Asia
Vacationers in Beijing will be offered to go to the restaurant “Mama's Lunch Beijing”, located near the Temple of Confucius: culinary courses for tourists are arranged here - the chef will introduce them to the national cuisine, revealing the secrets of cooking traditional dishes (the duration of the lesson is 3 hours, and courses are advisable in advance by phone).
A trip to Asia can be timed to coincide with the Seafood Festival (Phuket, August), the Oyster Festival (Tokyo, March), the Food and Wine Festival (Hong Kong, November).
