There are few noisy resorts in the northern part of Vietnam, but there is a famous natural attraction - Halong Bay. The city of Hanoi is also located here, which is considered the capital of the country. To the east of it is the large port of Haiphong, from where you can get to any of the 3000 islands of Halong Bay. Many islets are uninhabitable, but of interest to tourists. They are covered with limestone and karst formations, jungle and mountains. North Vietnam is known for such resorts as Shapa, Halong, Cat Ba Island. Travelers who are interested in mountain landscapes and historical sites come to this part of the country. In the far north, beach vacations are possible from mid-spring to mid-autumn.

Weather

It is better to visit the North of Vietnam in summer, from May to October. From December to early spring, winter dominates here (wet season). The air temperature at this time is +10 -15 degrees. The coolest month is January. It often rains in the north in February and March. High humidity and cloudy weather are constant companions of winter days. In summer, the air temperature rises to +35 degrees. It is a hot and dry season for relaxation. Occasionally, short-term but powerful showers are possible. On summer days, powerful typhoons occur in the northern part of the country.

Major attractions

Famous cultural sites are concentrated in the Vietnamese capital - Hanoi. There is a Temple of Literature or Confucian University, an ethnographic museum. Hanoi is considered one of the most picturesque cities in Southeast Asia. On its territory, architectural creations are perfectly preserved, which testify to different stages in the history of the state. Today, the capital of Vietnam is home to over six million people.

Halong Bay, located in the Gulf of Tonkin (South China Sea), is a natural landmark in the north. It is 170 km away from Hanoi and covers an area of 1,500 km. sq. This bay contains numerous caves, cliffs and islands. The bay is located in the Quang Ninh province, where the city of Halong is also located. There are no special attractions in it, so it serves as a kind of staging post for tourists. Halong Bay is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It was declared a new wonder of the world in 2011 thanks to its breathtaking landscapes. Almost all the islands of this bay are rocky formations. Between the rocks there are unique caves with stalagmites, stalactites and waterfalls. Many popular caves have been equipped with tourist attractions and illuminated.
