The provinces representing Sweden are combined into regions: Gotaland, Norrland, Svealand. It should be noted that Norrland is partly located in Finland. There used to be Österland, whose territory is now located outside the territory of Sweden.

Småland

Småland is a historical province located in southern Sweden. This province is home to one of the oldest cities in Sweden, known as Kalmar. In the Middle Ages, Kalmar was the third largest in the country and was a major trade center, and today it is the gateway to the longest bridge in Sweden, serving to connect the island of Öland and the Scandinavian Peninsula. In Kalmar, you can see an old castle complex, an art museum, and a maritime museum. Many provinces in Sweden are of great interest, but Småland is one of the most interesting.

Halland

Halland is a province located in the southwestern region of Sweden in the historical region of Gotaland. Among the attractions it should be noted:

  • Varberg Fortress, built in the 13th century. 200 years after the construction, the walls were strengthened. Now the fortress attracts tourists from all over the world.
  • Chuleholm Castle. It was in this castle complex that the film Melancholy (directed by Lars von Trier) was filmed.

Helsingland

Helsingland is a historic province of Sweden that is included in the Norrland region. Since the beginning of the Middle Ages, the decoration of wooden houses in which peasants lived has become characteristic. UNESCO has included in the World Heritage Register the best peasant estates that have existed since the 19th century.

Herjedalen

Herjedalen is a historical province and special region of Sweden that attracts people who want to enjoy an active lifestyle, beautiful nature and interesting tourist routes. Anyone can go on a long hike with organized overnight stays. It is customary to come to Herjedalen not only for the purpose of hiking, but also for mountain fishing and extreme sports. The largest settlement is Sveg, in the center of which you can see the world's largest wooden bear.

Sweden is a unique state that is one of the most interesting in Europe.
