The holiday season in Morocco lasts throughout the year (it all depends on the purpose and area of visiting the country): May - October can be devoted to beach holidays, and the winter months to excursions (visiting the Sahara, Casablanca, medieval Tangier, a trip on a safari) and skiing resorts.
Features of rest in Moroccan resorts by seasons
- Spring: This time of year is not good for swimming, but good for exploring Arab culture and sights, spa treatments and swimming in heated pools.
- Summer: The weather at this time of the year is hot and dry, and only on the Atlantic coast is it foggy and cooler.
- Autumn: It can still be hot in autumn in towns far from the ocean. In general, the weather is favorable for participation in excursion programs.
- Winter: January-February is the time to go skiing. For this pastime, it is worth choosing the resort of Ukaymeden (High Atlas) and Ifran (Middle Atlas).
Beach season in Morocco
You can swim in the sea in May - October, but for a vacation on the Atlantic Ocean, it is advisable to go to Moroccan resorts in August - September (the ocean warms up slowly, and even with 35-degree heat, the water temperature can only reach + 20 degrees).
The most popular Moroccan beaches are located in Agadir, a resort ideal for families with children. At your service - ocean water, golden sand, fun entertainment. Dakhla (southern Morocco) is a special place in the country where the water temperature is at the same level throughout the year (about +25 degrees): divers, fishermen, surfers will find entertainment here. You can have a great time on the sandy beach of Buznika, located 40 km from Casablanca - in the summer there are lifeguards on duty, and in the winter surfers come here.
Surfing
In general, the surfing season in Morocco lasts from October to March (there are many spots for surfers of different levels in the country), but it all depends on the region of the country. For example, in summer you can catch a wave north of Rabat, in January-February - in Agadir, and in September-October - on the entire Atlantic coast.
The best places for skiing are the south coast between Agadir and Essueira. Advanced surfers should take a closer look at the Boilers reef spot (fast, strong, long waves that curl up into a tube if they reach more than 2 meters), and for beginners - to Banana Beach (wave height - 1-2 meters).
