The Icelandic city of Reykjavik has 2 airports. One of them operates only domestic flights, and the second only international. Accordingly, the largest of these two airports is the one that operates international flights, so the main focus of the review will be on this airport.

Reykjavik airport

Reykjavik Airport is located about two kilometers from the city and is mainly responsible for domestic flights. International flights operate only to Greenland. This airport cannot have the status of the main one due to insufficient equipment, its runways are very short, which does not allow to properly service large aircraft. The longest strip is 1567 meters. In addition, the airport is used for landings as a backup, in case of bad weather conditions on the territory of the second airport of the city.

Reykjavik-Keflavik airport

This airport is the largest in the country. It is located about 3 kilometers from the city of Keflavik and about 50 kilometers from the city of Reykjavik. The airport is used as the main hub for international flights. More than 1.7 million passengers are served here annually. From here, there are regular flights to cities in the USA, Canada and Europe.

The airport area is about 25 square kilometers. The airfield has two runways 3054 and 3065 meters long.

Services

The airport has only one terminal, which is hard to get lost in. In 2001, this terminal was significantly enlarged and modernized, in accordance with the Schengen agreement. It should be noted that it is forbidden to spend the night in the terminal building.

For passengers, the airport in Reykjavik offers everything you need on the road: cafes and restaurants, ATMs, currency exchange, luggage storage, post office, shops, etc.

Transport

Only transport links are available from the airport to the city. The terminal itself is divided into two parts, on the one hand buses leave for the city, on the other - buses arrive at the airport.

Travel time to Reykjavik is approximately 45 minutes. Buses run to the central station, the schedule is adjusted depending on the arriving flights. From the bus station you can get to the city airport, which operates domestic flights.

You can also take a taxi to the city for about 70 euros.
