The airport in Cherepovets is the only international airport in the Vologda region, located 25 kilometers from the city. Its main operator is the Severstal air company, which carries out daily air transportation in more than ten destinations in Russia and about five destinations to foreign countries. The airport's runway is made of asphalt concrete and has a length of more than 2.5 kilometers, which allows it to receive such aircraft as Il-114, Yak-42, An-74, An-24 and other medium and small aircraft, as well as helicopters of all types.
History
The airport in Cherepovets was founded in the early 30s of the last century. Initially, it was located in the vicinity of the village of Maturino near Cherepovets, later (in 1970) the air harbor received a new location, where it is located to this day.
In 2006, a significant reconstruction of the airport was carried out. Radio engineering and light-signaling systems have been equipped, new buildings for engineering services, an air terminal and other structures have been built. Today the airport fully complies with the requirements of international standards for foreign flights.

Transport
From the airport to different districts of Cherepovets there is a regular movement of regular buses and passenger "Gazelles", departing from the airport parking lot every 15 - 20 minutes. In addition, taxi services offer their services, which you can order by phone or use the service by taking a taxi at the station square parking lot. Travel time will take 30 - 40 minutes.
